The General Secretary of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, His Eminence Sheikh Qais al- The representative of the Al-Sadiqoon and head of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Zahra Al-Bajari, stressed on Tuesday the importance of expanding the Iraqi naval fleet by purchasing commercial ships with large tonnages that contribute to maritime transport, restoring the country’s maritime status and increasing the profits of its companies, given the importance that Iraq enjoys in the shipping process. And transportation of goods.
Al-Bajari said, according to a statement provided by her media office, that the importance of maritime transport comes from Iraq’s geographical location and the increase in demand for import and export, indicating that the control of the national carrier represented by the maritime transport company requires the availability of giant ships and that purchasing these ships will restore Iraq’s maritime history in addition to the great economic feasibility.
She indicated that the efforts of the Ministry of Transport and the senior management of the Maritime Transport Company contributed to the launch of actual plans to develop the work of companies, build their financial capabilities, and return Iraq to its previous era of occupying its natural position.
Al-Bajari also considered that resorting to buying giant ships will contribute to building a global fleet to transport materials to and from Iraq and neighboring countries, especially with the launch of the work of the large Al-Faw port and the development road, pointing out that these efforts will contribute to the success of the Iraqi maritime and land sector.
