Representative from the Al-Sadiqoon bloc and head of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Zahra Al-Bajari, confirmed on Tuesday her refusal to give up the environmental and navigational impact of the only corridor in Khor Abdullah.
Al-Bajari said in a press interview, “The agreement to regulate navigation in Khor Abdullah was signed during the time of the previous regime,” noting that “the ownership of the Khor belongs to Iraqi sovereignty”.
She added, “Part of Khor Abdullah is the only shipping lane leading to most Iraqi ports, and according to the Taluk line, the division is by halving, after Khor Abdullah was all part of Iraq”.
She pointed out that “the previous regime ceded a large part of Khor Abdullah to the Kuwaiti side unjustly,” stressing that “its committee refused to hand over the environmental impact of the Kuwaiti side of Al-Faw Port on the grounds that it does not fall within the Khor Abdullah agreement”.
