Al-Baldawi holds the Sunni forces responsible for obstructing the decision on the position of Parliament Speaker.

Al-Baldawi said in a press statement, “The political blocs view the presidency of the House of Representatives as an entitlement to a specific bloc or coalition, and not as representing the hierarchy of legislative and supervisory authority in the country”.
He added, “The main flaw in not choosing the Speaker of the House of Representatives falls on the Sunni blocs, which had to agree among themselves to nominate a person for this position, given that it is customary for the Speaker of Parliament to be from the Sunni component, but these blocs have not agreed on a specific candidate until now”.
Al-Baldawi explained, “The selection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives is awaiting the decision of the Federal Court regarding the appeal submitted by the Taqaddam bloc, which wants to nullify the outcomes of the session to elect the Speaker of Parliament. This is an attempt by it to put forward new names other than Shaalan Al-Karim, on the basis that it views the position of Speaker of the House as deserving of it”.
