The representative of the Al-Sadiqoon parliamentary bloc, Ahmed Al-Moussawi on Monday, ruled out the possibility of Shaalan Al-Karim obtaining the position of Speaker of Parliament. While he considered that the position was not limited to the “Taqadum” party, he stressed the need of the House of Representatives for a new president to restore its prestige.
Al-Moussawi said during a televised interview that Shaalan Al-Karim cannot become Speaker of Parliament after he “has become a thing of the past” and cannot compete again, indicating that Al-Mazad favored Al-Karim in the session to elect the Speaker of Parliament.
Al-Moussawi stated that the presidency of Parliament is not limited to the advancement of any representative who can run, stressing that Parliament needs a president who will regain its prestige, while revealing that sanctions will be issued against a former female representative who spoke of “parliamentary harassment”.
Regarding the file of forming local governments, Al-Moussawi indicated that there is a conviction among the parties that the governor of Diyala will be a Shiite, pointing out that Muthanna Al-Tamimi cannot be renewed as governor for a new term.
He added that political stability must continue in Diyala, especially since the security file in the province is linked to the political situation.
