The representative of the Al-Sadiqoon, Hassan Salem, called on today (Thursday) the government not to compromise Iraq’s maritime sovereignty and its oil fields by responding to the Kuwaiti and Saudi statements regarding the Durra field and the Khor Abdullah agreement, calling on the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to deposit a copy of the Federal Court’s decision invalidating this agreement. The Convention is before the Security Council.
Salem said in a blog post on the “X” website that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait must respect the sovereignty of Iraq, Khor Abdullah and the Durra field are Iraqi, and our government and its foreign affairs must respond with all courage and say that Khor Abdullah is Iraqi.
He added, this is what the Federal Court proved by invalidating the Khor Abdullah Agreement. Otherwise, silence means compromising the country’s maritime sovereignty. We have always called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deposit a copy of the Federal Court’s decision invalidating this agreement with the Security Council.
