A member of the political bureau of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, Laith Al-Adhari, confirmed today (Monday) the Al-Sadiqoun bloc’s support for any consensual candidate presented by the Sunni forces for the position of Speaker of Parliament, while revealing the intention of some Sunni parties to deliberately delay the resolution of this file.
Al-Adhari said during a televised interview that political custom goes towards granting the presidency of Parliament to the Sunni component, indicating that the Sunni disagreement over the position affected the Kurdish component and the Shiite component.
Al-Athari indicated that the Al-Sadiqoon supports any candidate presented by the Sunnis for the presidency of Parliament, and has no intention of supporting one candidate over another for the presidency of the Council, pointing out that a problem created by some parties obstructed the session to elect the Speaker of Parliament.
Al-Adhari believed that Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and Salem Al-Issawi are suitable candidates for the presidency of Parliament, although some are trying to make the Shiites a peg for delaying the resolution of the parliamentary presidency file, while delaying the resolution of this file is not in the interest of the Shiite forces.
He added that Iraq is proceeding on its way and delaying the election of the Speaker of Parliament does not affect that, especially since compromise solutions are possible to resolve the issue of the presidency of Parliament and there is no need for a “bone-breaking” policy.
Al-Adhari stressed that the Shiite framework and the state administration coalition are still strong, and that the Al-Sadiqoun bloc is disciplined and possesses fluidity in the political presentation, while he described the phrase “Al-Amin leads Parliament” as mere electronic buzz.
Al-Adhari denied the existence of any candidate from Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq to head the Popular Mobilization Forces, while he expressed his confidence in the seriousness of the current government in removing foreign forces from Iraq.
