Representative Ali Turki Al-Jamali confirmed today (Sunday) that Sunni disputes over the position of Speaker of Parliament have disrupted many important laws during the current legislative term.
Al-Jamali said, “The Al’atar Altansiqei is still communicating with the Sunni parties for the purpose of arriving at a suitable candidate for the presidency of Parliament,” noting that “there has been no agreement yet between the Sunni forces regarding the position”.
He added, “The issue of the presidency of parliament has been prolonged, and there are important laws suspended due to Sunni differences,” pointing out that “the large number of political interventions is what delayed the resolution of this entitlement”.
He stated that “the most appropriate way to resolve the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives is to leave the freedom of choice to the representatives, and they are the ones who decide who the new president will be,” calling for “a solution to this crisis and a convergence of viewpoints between the parties to end it”.
