Al-Halawi: Purchasing advanced air defense systems is a necessity to protect Iraq’s sovereignty.

Head of the Sadiqoon parliamentary, Habib al-Halawi, stressed today, Saturday, that the ongoing threats facing the countries of the region, including Iraq, require strong defense strategies to protect national sovereignty.
Al-Halawi said in a press statement that “purchasing advanced air defense systems such as the S-400 is a necessary step to enhance Iraq’s defense capabilities, especially in light of the repeated air violations by some regional parties, including the Zionist entity”.
Al-Halawi stressed that “Iraq needs to rely on diverse and independent defense sources, away from American pressures, to enhance its ability to protect its airspace and borders”.
He pointed out the importance of the government investing in advanced defense systems and diversifying sources of armament to avoid external political pressures, stressing that “national security interests must be at the top of the priorities of any country seeking to preserve its sovereignty”.
