The General Secretary of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, His Eminence Sheikh Qais Khazali, affirmed on Monday that the Turkish threat is not merely a political analysis, but rather a position and a project being discussed by Turkish leaders, with practical steps being implemented on Iraqi soil.
During his Eid al-Fitr sermon, Sheikh al-Khazali stated that Turkish tools played a key role in the events on the Syrian coast, facilitating the entry of Uzbek and Chechen groups that committed massacres against the Syrian people.
His Eminence also revealed the role of Turkish entities in recruiting and training Iraqis from Nineveh and Kirkuk provinces, who were sent to Turkey for training. He noted that some of these militias continue to receive salaries from Ankara.
Sheikh Khazali added that some of these militias, which received training in Turkey, were integrated into the Popular Mobilization Forces, specifically within the 59th Brigade in Nineveh, raising questions about Turkey’s objectives in Iraq and the region.
