Al-Bujari: The Popular Mobilization Forces Law is awaiting a second reading, and a vote on it is contingent upon its return by the Council of Ministers.

Zahra Al-Bajari, head of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee for the Sadiqoon, confirmed on Saturday that the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law, which has reached the House of Representatives, has received its first reading and is awaiting a second reading in preparation for a vote.
Al-Bujari said in a press statement that “the parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, along with the Legal Committee, explained that the delay in including the law on the parliamentary agenda was due to the absence of meetings designated for discussing it and completing work on it”.
Al-Bajari called on the Security and Defense Committee to “expedite progress on this law,” stressing the “need to prioritize the service and retirement law for members of the Popular Mobilization Forces, ensuring their equality with members of other security forces”.
She explained that “among the most significant obstacles facing the process of the Civil Service and Retirement Law was the legal age of the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Faleh al-Fayyadh. However, the biggest problem was the withdrawal of the draft law by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, without it having yet been returned to the House of Representatives”.
