The General Secretary of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, His Eminence Sheikh Qais Khazali, affirmed on Saturday that strengthening relations between Iraq and Syria is essential and serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries. He emphasized the importance of coordination and cooperation between the two sides in various fields.
Sheikh Khazali stated in a post on the “X” platform that “the current visit of the Syrian regime’s president to Iraq at this time is a premature step,” noting that such a visit could lead to legal repercussions if the arrest warrant against him is executed by Iraqi security forces.
His Eminence explained that his position is consistent with the principle of separation of powers, calling for all parties to respect and adhere to the decisions of the Iraqi judiciary, in a way that strengthens the rule of law and preserves the prestige of the state.
