The General Secretary of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, His Eminence Sheikh Qais Khazali, mourned the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis on Monday with deep sorrow and grief, describing his passing as a great loss for a global religious figure who played a prominent role in promoting the values of peace and tolerance.
In a post on the “X” platform, Sheikh Al-Khazali recalled Pope Francis’s historic visit to Iraq and his meeting with His Eminence, the Supreme Religious Authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may his shadow be extended) in the holy city of Najaf, stressing that this visit represented a significant milestone in consolidating the principles of peaceful coexistence and strengthening human brotherhood.
His Eminence also offered his sincere condolences and sympathy to the entire Christian world, praying for mercy for the soul of Pope Francis and patience and solace for his loved ones.
