Zahra Al-Bajari, head of the Iraqi Parliament’s Transport and Communications Committee for the Sadiqoon, affirmed her categorical rejection of any concession to the Khor Abdullah area or any leniency in defending national sovereignty. This was a clear and firm stance rejecting attempts to relinquish this important site.
In a statement issued by her media office in response to reports of intentions or negotiations to infringe upon Iraq’s rights in this strategic region, Al-Bajari said that the committee will take strict action against any party proven to be failing to protect national interests.
Al-Bajari added, “Khawr Abdullah is an integral part of Iraqi territory, and we will not allow any violation of it. We will hold accountable anyone proven to have been involved in any negligence or omission, and we will reveal the full facts to the Iraqi people, who have entrusted us with protecting their rights and national gains”.
Al-Bujari called on the government and relevant authorities to “firmly defend national principles and not be drawn into any pressure or compromises that undermine Iraq’s sovereignty”.
Al-Bajjari also highlighted the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee’s keen interest in and close follow-up of this issue, expressing her readiness to disclose all details and documents related to the legal and political status of the Khor Abdullah area to the Iraqi public.
