Habib al-Halawi, head of the Sadiqoon, affirmed on Thursday that the Khor Abdullah issue is not a negotiable issue, but rather represents a symbol of Iraqi sovereignty that cannot be violated. He emphasized the need for the government to shoulder its national responsibilities in this sensitive matter.
Al-Halawi said in a post on the “X” platform, “The Federal Court’s decision was clear and explicit that not a single inch of Iraqi land or water will be relinquished,” adding that “silence at this critical time is a relinquishment of the country’s future, and any complacency or flattery on this issue will be met with an uncompromising stance”.
Al-Halawi added, “Sovereignty is a red line, and we will not allow Iraq’s land and waters to be compromised under any circumstances”.
