Zahra Al- Bajari, head of the parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee for the Sadiqoon, accused political parties on Wednesday of obstructing the work of parliament, asserting that the current failure to convene sessions is “corruption in its purest form.”
Al- Bajari said in a press statement that there was a “political decision” and a prior agreement between certain forces to prevent parliamentary sessions from being held, considering this deliberate disruption a disregard for the popular will and constitutional institutions.
She added, “We are tired of the repeated threats and constant hints of exposing corruption files,” calling on anyone with such files to “bring them to the public and not cover them up, otherwise this is nothing more than blackmail”.
Al- Bajari criticized the unjustified delay in the Speaker of Parliament signing the interpellation letters, noting that this delay raises numerous questions and reinforces the belief that there is collusion between the Parliament Speaker and certain political forces to obstruct oversight and legislative work.
Al- Bajari asserted that “Parliament effectively ended after the vote on the single basket, and it no longer exists on the ground,” noting that the budget schedules have not yet reached Parliament, a clear indication of the lack of coordination between the executive and legislative authorities.
She also described the withdrawal of tax funds without legal basis as no different from the “theft of the century,” considering the government’s disbursement of these funds before the legally mandated period has passed a blatant violation of the law and calls for immediate accountability.
