Al-Bujari calls on the government to cancel the memorandum of understanding with Türkiye and stresses that Iraqi sovereignty is a red line.
Zahra Al-Bajari, head of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee for the Sadiqoon affirmed on Monday that Iraq’s sovereignty is an inviolable red line, emphasizing her rejection of any agreements or understandings that undermine Iraq’s national security.
In a post on the “X” platform, Al-Bajari called on the Iraqi government to take immediate action to end the illegal Turkish presence on Iraqi territory, especially after the cessation of military operations by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which negates any justification for the continued Turkish incursion.
Al-Bujari also expressed her rejection of any agreements that threaten the country’s national security, calling for the immediate cancellation of the 2024 Iraqi-Turkish Memorandum of Understanding, considering it a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
