Al-Moussawi calls on the government to implement the law criminalizing normalization and take deterrent measures against those promoting the Zionist entity.

Zainab al-Moussawi, a member of parliament for the Sadiqoon, warned on Sunday of the danger of the positions and statements issued by some political and popular groups within Iraq, which she described as directly or indirectly supporting the false front represented by the usurping Zionist entity. This comes amid the accelerating events in the Middle East and the ongoing attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a press statement, Al-Moussawi expressed her deep regret over these positions, which she considered a clear violation of the national principles and ideological and constitutional constants of the Iraqi people. She emphasized that this type of rhetoric contradicts Iraq’s identity, which rejects normalization and supports the resistance.
She stressed that these statements constitute a clear violation of the laws in force, especially Law No. (1) of 2022, known as the “Law Criminalizing Normalization and Establishing Relations with the Zionist Entity,” which stipulates in its second article that promoting any form of relations with the usurping Zionist entity is prohibited, and that this is considered a crime punishable by law.
In this context, MP Al-Moussawi called on the Iraqi government, headed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, to assume its national and moral responsibilities regarding these dangerous lapses. She called on the Ministry of Interior and judicial authorities to take immediate and deterrent measures against anyone proven to support or promote the Zionist entity or to display hostile stance toward countries supporting the resistance forces.
She also stressed the need to activate the provisions of the law criminalizing normalization and strictly enforce them against anyone who dares to undermine the nation’s fundamentals and the choices of its people in supporting the causes of truth and justice.
Al-Moussawi concluded her statement by reaffirming her firm and clear position, saying, “There is no neutrality in the battle between truth and falsehood, and Iraq will remain, as we have always known it, an impregnable barrier against all attempts to be drawn into the Zionist project and its tools”.
