Ahmed al-Mousawi, representing the Sadiqoon, called on the Iraqi government, headed by Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, on Saturday to take a decisive stance on the agreement to withdraw US forces from Iraqi territory, stressing the need to activate the agreement or officially announce its cancellation.
Al-Moussawi affirmed in a press statement that “the Iraqi street has not yet witnessed any actual or practical steps on the ground indicating the implementation of the security agreement signed between Baghdad and Washington, which stipulates the complete withdrawal of US forces from Iraq by the end of this year.
He pointed out that “the continued uncertainty surrounding the implementation of the agreement raises numerous questions and doubts about the American side’s intentions,” warning that “the continued presence of these forces could open the door to foreign intervention, including paving the way for the Zionist entity to target Iraq and countries in the region, as part of what he described as a Zionist-American plan.
