The representative of the Al-Sadiqoon bloc and member of the Parliamentary Agricultural, Water and Marshlands Committee, Rafiq Al-Salhi, called today (Wednesday) on the government to use a pressure card against Turkey, with the aim of releasing larger quantities of water to Iraq, after the decline of many rivers and endangering agriculture in southern Iraq.
Al-Salhiy said in a statement issued by his media office, that cutting off water by Turkey portends a great danger, indicating that Turkey has cut off 40% of Iraq’s water share”.
He added, “The southern governorates are exposed to significant water scarcity as a result of Turkey’s hostile policy”.
He explained, “The government is required to use pressure against Turkey to release Iraq’s water quotas”.
