Saad Al-Saadi, a member of the political bureau of the Al-Sadiqoon, denied Today (Thursday) the news circulating about the existence of an international request directed to the supreme religious authority to dissolve the Popular Mobilization Forces.
Al-Saadi said in a press statement, “This news is completely false, based on the confirmation of the representative of the religious authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala’i, during a meeting between them, in which he stressed that there was no request of this kind.”
He explained that “the Popular Mobilization Forces are a basic security pillar within the Iraqi armed forces, and have a pivotal role in defending the country and its sanctities,” noting that the Mobilization Forces have achieved major victories against the terrorist ISIS gangs.
He added that “talk about dissolving or merging the Popular Mobilization Forces is nothing more than a media campaign directed by malicious parties seeking to destabilize the country and stir up strife,” stressing that “there is no direction among the Iraqi parties in this regard”.
