Head of the Sadiqoon parliamentary, Dr. Habib al-Halawi, confirmed today, Sunday, that the Iraqi army went through difficult stages after the American occupation in 2003, but it was able to rise thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of its sons.
Al-Halawi pointed out, during a televised statement, that the Iraqi security services, including the Popular Mobilization Forces, were able to liberate Iraq from the clutches of the terrorist organization ISIS, which confirms Iraq’s ability to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Regarding the aspirations for the next stage, Al-Halawi indicated that there are ambitions to equip the Iraqi army and all security agencies with advanced weapons that keep pace with the challenges of the era, which ensures strengthening our defensive capabilities in the face of any potential threat.
Al-Halawi explained that the current phase that the region is going through is an emergency, and these are conditions that occur in most countries, stressing that the wisdom of the leaders in the Shiite framework had a pivotal role in overthrowing the external conspiracies that were targeting the stability of Iraq.
He added, “The more cohesive and cooperative the internal arena is, the more we can defeat external agendas that seek to weaken our unity”.
Al-Halawi said, “The current political phase in Iraq is experiencing a state of satisfaction and relative stability, which reflects the success of political efforts in enhancing understanding between the various national parties”.
