The General Secretary of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, His Eminence Sheikh Qais Khazali, confirmed that there are ongoing attempts by some of those called “thinkers and opinion makers” to target the ideological aspect and seek to separate religion from the state.
Sheikh Al-Khazali said in his speech during his attendance at the second conference of the Sadiqoon students held in the holy city of Karbala, that the Iraqi constitution and the existing system in Iraq are secular, and there are no demands to Islamize the laws, which makes this issue not up for discussion.
His Eminence pointed out that the real danger lies in the attempt of some to isolate religion from the state in its comprehensive concept, which includes the people, the region, the geography, and the laws, stressing that isolating religion from the state means isolating it from the people, which is an extremely dangerous matter and does not exist in almost any country in the world.
His Eminence gave global examples to confirm the connection between faith and state, noting that Europe rejects Turkey’s accession to the European Union because of its Islamic identity, while US presidents take the oath on the Bible, Russia is proud of its Orthodox Christianity, and Britain is proud of its Protestant identity.
He also pointed out that the United States, despite its democracy, is trying to impose its own identity, including gay identity, on other cultures, such as the Russian cultural identity.
His Eminence stressed that faith is an integral part of the cultural identity of any people, wondering about the position of those who demand the separation of religion from the state, while at the same time blessing the Zionist entity for forming its state on religious and national foundations.
Sheikh Al-Khazali concluded by emphasizing the pride of the people of Iraq in their great religion, which is the religion of God, and in their great law, the law of the Prophet Muhammad (may God bless him and his family), and their allegiance to the pure Imams from the Ahl Albayt (peace be upon them), and their connection to the awaited Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him) in this era, considering that the authentic Muhammadan Islam is the upright and true religion that cannot be separated from human life.
