The representative of the Al-Sadiqoon Ibtisam Al-Hilali, confirmed that some political blocs are obstructing the inclusion of the Popular Mobilization Law on the agenda of the parliament sessions, stressing the need to hold a session with a full quorum to vote on the law, in loyalty to the sacrifices of the members of the Mobilization.
Al-Hilali said in a press statement: “Our duty as representatives is to legislate the Popular Mobilization Law, in appreciation of their heroism and in response to their great sacrifices, as they are the ones who answered the call of the religious authority to defend the homeland and the holy sites”.
She added that the issue of the legal retirement age has nothing to do with the proposed law, stressing that some Sunni blocs and a number of MPs are against passing it, which requires a unified position from Shiite MPs to refuse to enter the sessions without including it on the agenda.
Al-Hilali stressed that passing this law represents a legitimate and legal entitlement for the heroes of the Popular Mobilization Forces, calling on all political forces to adhere to their national responsibilities, away from narrow partisan interests.
