The head of the Al-Sadiqoon parliamentary, Habib Al-Halawi, confirmed today (Monday) that the main obstacle to passing the Popular Mobilization Law is those who benefit from Faleh Al-Fayyadh remaining in his position, noting that His Eminence Sheikh Qais Al-Khazali intended to attend Parliament today to support passing the law in fairness to the rights of the Mujahideen.
Al-Halawi said during a televised interview that the Asaib respects Faleh al-Fayyadh and considers him one of the main pillars of the Popular Mobilization Forces, but he pointed out that the law should not be formulated according to individuals, saying: “There is no personalization in the Popular Mobilization Forces law, but rather it is a law to organize the affairs of the mujahideen who sacrificed for Iraq”.
Al-Halawi stressed the necessity of including an age requirement in the Popular Mobilization Forces retirement law, explaining that 59% of the Popular Mobilization Forces have at least 10 years of service, which requires granting them their rights fairly, stressing that “the age requirement must be included in the law,” noting at the same time that Chief of Staff Abu Fadak al-Muhammadawi is still young and not covered by retirement.
He added: “Whoever is over 60 years old and remains in service, his salary becomes haram,” noting that this principle should be applied to all positions, including the governor of the Central Bank, Ali Al-Alaq, who has exceeded the legal retirement age.
Al-Halawi expressed his rejection of politicizing the Popular Mobilization Forces or turning them into an institution suffering from old age, calling for the injection of new blood to ensure the continuity of its effective role in protecting Iraq.
Regarding the issue of beards in the ranks of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Al-Halawi explained that shaving the beard is religiously forbidden, but it will not be imposed on members, indicating that this matter is considered a personal freedom and a religious tradition in military institutions.
At the end of his statements, Al-Halawi stressed that the resistance will not end despite the fears of former US President Donald Trump, stressing that the Iraqi will will remain strong in the face of any external threats.
