Ali Turki al-Jamali, a member of parliament representing the Sadiqoon, warned on Wednesday of a “dangerous project” targeting Iraq’s Shiite component, asserting that talk of the prime minister ship being transferred to a Sunni component is “mere media exaggeration”.
Al-Jamali said in a press statement, “There is a dangerous project being led by certain parties, namely the project of Julani in Shiite garb or robe,” noting that “some Iraqis who talk about Julani’s success do so because the project is proceeding in accordance with their agenda”.
Al-Jamali explained that “there are Sunni figures who continue to threaten to execute Shiite politicians for their opposition to the terrorist organization ISIS,” expressing “real fears of a project targeting Shiites if a Sunni assumes the premier ship”.
He added, “Islam is not the rule in Iraq, and the tools of the ISIS project are still strongly present on the ground,” noting that “the head of the Sovereignty Alliance, Khamis al-Khanjar, brazenly announced his funding of the killing of Iraqi soldiers, and he must be tried for treason and collaboration”.
Al-Jamali stressed that “the Sadiqoun bloc is not against defending citizens, but it strongly rejects defending terrorists,” accusing “Jordan and Turkey of being behind ongoing conspiracies against Iraq”.
Al-Jamali concluded by saying, “The Shiites are the original Arabs of Iraq, and they will not allow the projects that targeted them in the past to be repeated under any cover or name”.
