The General Secretary of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, His Eminence Sheikh Qais Khazali, confirmed on Sunday that the movement has decided to participate in the upcoming elections with an independent list under the name “Sadiqoon”, after a careful study and in-depth electoral calculations, indicating that this step came after evaluating the political situation, as the movement decided to play a larger and clearer role in the upcoming political process.
Sheikh Al-Khazali said during a heated interview that the door to alliance is open with independent figures, local entities, or other lists that wish to join the “Sadiqoon” list, stressing that the participation in the upcoming elections will be different from the previous elections, where the movement was allied with political forces close to it.
His Eminence explained that the decision to participate in the independent list is due to the fact that the ” Sadiqoon ” movement has become ready to have its own address in the political arena, considering that this will contribute to strengthening the electoral interest of the movement more than allying with other lists.
In another context, Sheikh Al-Khazali spoke about the role played by the ” Sadiqoon ” movement in forming the Iraqi government, stressing that the movement started in 2014 with one representative, and in 2018 it reached 15 representatives, and in 2021-2022 it became an essential part in forming the government, indicating that this development is a positive indicator for the future.
His Eminence Sheikh Al- Khazali also announced that the “Sadiqoon” list will include figures officially affiliated with the movement, in addition to opening the door to independent national figures who wish to participate, whether through a political alliance or on the basis of electoral interest.
Regarding the possible participation of the Sadrist movement in the upcoming elections, His Eminence stressed that the Sadrist movement is an important part of the Iraqi social fabric, noting that their return to participation will be a positive indicator of the development of the political process.
His Eminence added that the competition within ِِAl’atar Altansiqi between the political forces is not a new thing, explaining that the framework will compete in the upcoming elections with multiple lists, but it will meet after the elections to form a government that serves the Iraqi people.
His Eminence also pointed out that Iraq has gone through major challenges since 2003, such as sectarianism, ISIS, and the occupation, and that the security, social, and political situation has witnessed a significant improvement, expressing his optimism for a better future for Iraq, thanks to God and with the support of all the Iraqi people.
